FYI: The FBI Wants You To Reboot Your Router Now To Help Destroy A Botnet

In a public service announcement published Friday and noted by Ars Technica, and a new addition to a US Department of Justice press release, the FBI explains that it's hoping that your actions will help the US government destroy a botnet before a Russian hacking group, Sofacy, can harden the malware's defenses.

Me Here: first I've heard of this (Monday was a major USA holiday).

My one paragraph c & p is all that's feasible on this site. It is highly likely that there will be a huge number of takes, and all likely lenghtly ones, on what's going on, to include agreement/disagreement/what are the experts saying/on & on.
Caveat Emptor time I guess re whether to roll the dice as to what to do.

Being as I would trust the FBI as far as I could throw the Empire State Building - I am doing nothing!

Spoken like the True Patriot that you are.

I also am doing zilch. Will all those on this board who doesn't believe that this is a ploy developed by the NSA as an upgrade to their domestic spying program supercomputer system, i. e., increased surveillance capability, please signify by raising their hand. Yes, I assumed as much.

By the way, not a word on this from my ISP. But then again their IP dept epitomizes the less is more approach to doing business.
