Oh Me Oh My: Japanese NHK issues a false alarm about a North Korean missile launch

NOTE: On the NHK website: it has both radio and TV facilities; none of the news stories specifically spelled out which type of their media this alert was issues on.

There are numerous hits on this via any search; there doesn't seem to be much difference in what various hits are stating, i. e., as in c & p reporting.

" "Japan’s public broadcaster on Tuesday issued a false alarm about a North Korean ballistic missile launch, just days after the same blunder terrorized residents of Hawaii for nearly 40 minutes.

The broadcaster, NHK, corrected the mistake in minutes and issued an on-air apology.

“The news alert sent earlier about NK missile was a mistake. No government J alert was issued,” it said.

Authorities were trying to figure out what triggered the mistake.

“We’re still checking,” a NHK spokesman said.

The broadcaster on Tuesday evening [I presume that it was local time] issued an alert urging people to take shelter.

“NHK news alert. North Korea likely to have launched missile. The government J alert: evacuate inside the building or underground,” it said.

Five minutes later, it corrected the error.

“We’re very sorry,” NHK said." "

Me here: I'm very sorry that they are very sorry!!!!
