IIRC I used to solve the Standard Rubik's Cube in about 49 sec (though something in the back of my mind says it was 18 secs) in the mid 80s. Haven't touched one in decades and could not remember the moves to solve it now. Once I had the first two layers, the final one was just a matter of following a certain pattern.
