Mentioned on computer/tech radio show

A mother phoned in to ask what her daughter could do about nude pics that have appeared on the internet. They show her face as well, and the page identifies her by name! She is a young adult. The pictures were for her boyfriend, on his phone. She thinks her boyfriend's room-mate took a picture of each picture on the phone, and put them on the internet anonymously.

The radio host, Kim Komando, mentioned a means by which the owner of the web site could be identified, She said a letter from a lawyer on his business letterhead requesting the pics be removed would likely get quick attention. But Kim says that the harm really can't be undone, because anything on the internet can get copied and distributed for display on other sites or other display.

Why do people risk such things?

Because people are stupid, scholar! I always maintain that anything done on any device that can be connected to the net is akin to standing on one side of you main thoroughfare and having a private conversation with your friend on the other side of the road.
