Doodle 4 Google Contest

Doodle 4 Google Contest

I'm posting this in the Discussion Forum since this article has, locally, created a debate in the online comments re conservative versus liberal of the doodle very similar re the tone of the take(s) on the political views of Hillary versus Donald (anyone from anywhere can post a comment to an online article).

Until a few minutes ago, I had never heard of this contest. This contest is in its 9th year; and the winners were posted today. A student in a nearby town, who was one of the winners, was flown out by Google to their HQ in California; she will also receive $30,000 toward a college scholarship and a chance to work with the Doodle team at the Googleplex in Mountain View, Calif. Her school high school will also receive a $50,000 grant to advance STEM education (STEM is an acronym).

The URL for the Google page with all the info is:
This webpage explains, at length, how this contest works, rules, etc.,.

I have no idea at all how this contest was ever publicized, i. e., was make known that it existed, and was open to the public (open to students in grades K-12).

There is a Doodle Gallery link on the webpage.

The embedded pix is what this girl submitted, and which won; the caption, which apparently was written by a reporter for the story in the local newspaper reads, "This image of eight teenagers of various persuasions in an embrace, their shirts cryptically spelling out "Google"".

Why not? Its an example of many large organisations that are quietly supporting the community without publicising their efforts.
Good work by the girl, too.

I love the Google Doodles and think the people who make them are very talented. Didn't know they ran a competition but what a splendid and very useful prize, and well done to the girl who won!
