Orphaned Folder

Can any one advise me what the Orphaned folder is and what its used for, I have recently seen this appear and am trying to clean up my hard drives from unused or obsolete data, what program created this and is it needed. If I delete this what are the possible consequences.

My OS is Win 7 Ultimate

Regards Miket

What's this folder called and what's in it? Where is it? Anything useful, if you right-click and select "Properties".

It sounds like in performing a windoze cleanup using any number of utilities (I think even windoze has one) on a search through your system it has determined that these files are left overs from some failed, or uninstallation and placed them into a "orphans" folder, again, you can probably delete them with no effect on the system. When I come across such things I usually delete them on the understanding that if something breaks, I must fix it. That said, I also have several other machines to fall back on if it screws it up completely.
