How do you cope with a pet left behind? ....

Having lost my nearest and dearest pet Candy tonight, I am faced with my youngest, Pepé looking at me and whining.
He has known a household of 2 older cats and 2 older dogs, has seen them slowly dwindle away to now to being just him.
Do I go and get another to keep him company, how will he take to a newcomer? Or indeed how will I? Any newcomer would have to be "farm friendly" and Pepé friendly, how do you discern this?
I think I need to seek some advice on it :(

DW Candy was a lovely little dog, she will be missed. :(

What to do for Pepe is difficult, if only he could make the choice himself.

Even after several years without Jack. Poppy goes down to the gate and sticks her nose underneath and I swear she still looks for Jack. :(

Would not Pepe benifit from playmate to run and have adventures with, and seeing Pepe happy would give you a nice warm feeling.

Very best Regards, the Bear
