World opinion of US rises under Obama

This is a bit odd, isn't it?

Views of the US around the world have improved sharply over the past year, according to a BBC World Service poll.

Now, according to some people, Obama is a corrupt liar, so why should America be viewed more favourably now? confused2

I commented elsewhere that I'd seen an interview with Obama done by one of our local news reporters and he came across as very intelligent and reasonable. Some of his policies may not be to my liking, but his responses to the reporter were very reasoned and without any evidence of cheatsheets or teleprompts that were visible. The camera did show a full view of the room and the two on several occasions during the report. It was pre-recorded, but I did not notice any evidence of c&p.
