Greed at both ends of the system

With headlines such as this and this and a local council willing to pay rent such as this for one family's accommodation.

How on earth can we ever reach a level playing field? I can't see the working man/middle class people being able to support such payments forever.

As always, extreme examples make for bad laws.

The bonus is rather low for the industry I think especially given that the director of the American bank in front of some committee or the other admitted to $250m pa income before bonuses.

I know I wouldn't want to support 12 people on less than 2,700 pa apiece. Or are you suggesting they should be forcibly sterilised?

Unless we are prepared to pay sufficient taxes to build social housing we must accept using our taxes to pay the market value for private housing to house our homeless.

But these are all extreme examples which, if legislated against, would create such confusion and (very expensive) court time (paid for by our taxes) because it is impossible to legislate for individual cases.

We middle classes have had it too good for too long, plenty of spare income to spend, especially on overvalued property. The bite will come and it will be our fault for constantly voting in the party who promise lowest taxation.

What does pa mean here? In America, a person's pa is his father, married to ma.
