Restrictions on female travel

Just an excuse?

Malaysia plans to curtail female travel without written permission. Protection or restriction?

They say protection. It should be more equal, and put that 'protection' for men as wellkewl_glasses

Campaigners have pointed out that letters of permission to travel would be very easy to forge.
Perhaps those who thought of this plan did not imagine women would think of writing a false note!

If this is not an excuse to put travel restrictions on women for cultural/social motivations, it is an example of the stupidity of lawmakers who ran with the idea without thinking it through. It might be hard to imagine anyone would be that stupid, but there are plenty of stupid laws on the books. (E.g. the U.S. law requiring use of ethanol, which has given us higher prices in both food AND fuel, while possibly starving those at the bottom in the poorest nations.) rant0000
