Advice on Suse Linux 10.2

i have copy of suse linux 10.2 64 bits(DVD) and i intend to install it over the weekend on one of mu HDD , just to see the difference between it and window, i would like to hear from those who have installed linux preferably 64 bits , it seems they are not as simple as window xp when it comes to installing, many thanks

I think TBH, you'd be better of with Ubuntu first, it's easier to "cut your teeth on", and probably more suited for a newbie...

It's all FREE, and there is much support available.

Get used to that, then try Suse....

Installation may be easy enough, but you may run into problems with running some of your applications and you may need to find suitable alternatives. Some of your drivers for your hardware may not be present either, so that may also be an issue. e.g. you may not have drivers for your modem, so cannot get onto the 'net.

There are members here who do use Linux and are far more qualified to assist than I.
