I've tried Wifi hotspots (BTOpenworld and T-mobile), and some abroad. The free ones are the ones I like:D At Paris airport I paid for 10 mins use. Osaka (Japan) airport has free wifi, as well as Isle of Man last time I went there. Some McDonalds has free wifi, as well as Weatherspoons though I haven't tried.

Otherwise, I always connect using my mobile (3g one or gprs). I don't travel so often, and when I do, I only check my email and news/weather using PDA or sometimes laptop. I have to be careful with laptop incase it starts downloading some update:o Vodafone & T-mobile has 1/day cap so that's cheap. Abroad, I use Virgin mobile, as they don't charge enormous roaming gprs fee.
