John Tams and Barry Coope

Of the Forge at the Anvil last night to see John Tams and Barry Coope.

As this clip shows, a much under-rated duo, there are lots more clips on youtube.

A lovely evening of self-penned and adapted music, JT's version of Dylan's Don't think twice - It's alright set at the time of the miners strike and sung in Derbyshire dialect was particularly effective.
JT wrote and sang a lot of the music and songs for Sharpe, which he performed in the character of Hagman, and the 2006 Radio Ballads.
Using his soft Derbyshire accent and his friendly approach to all, and ably accompanied by Barry Coope, no mean slouch with his voice himself, the evening was a joy, shame the sound engineer cocked up the sound a bit in the first half, too loud and too toppy, but they got very little time to set up having been directed from Derbyshire to Basingstoke via the M1, M25 and M3 during rush hour by the sat-nav.
We will be going to see them again.
