Wedding bands and men

This came up in conversation the other day, and it set me to wondering. David refused to wear a wedding ring on the grounds that "Englishmen don't". I parsed this - eventually - to mean, "My father didn't, and I don't want to, and it'd be silly to wear a ring in my job".

And I know that in my experience, far fewer men wear wedding bands than women (only my experience, mind...).

So, a poll - for anyone who is married, has been married, etc... The poll is about *men's* wedding jewellery. (1)

  • Wedding ring, which matched spouse's
  • Wedding ring, did not match spouse's
  • No wedding ring, but something else worn as symbol of bond
  • No wedding ring, nothing else worn
  • Other (pleae explain)
  • CLICKY!!!!

(1)No, I am *not* planning on proposing to anyone tomorrow, before anyone asks...

Afraid I was the same. Dont really know why. I think it was more the blokes I new that did wear rings were not really a good advert for them.

Hmmm.......I'm inclined to think that David was right. Damn it! We're English - and I ge the impression that you have pretty good english standards for a yank! Too. And that's a compliment, woman!

My husband didn't wear a wedding ring but I didn't ask him to. My dad does wear his with pride and when it was lost for a couple of months he was very upset about it.

I am thinking of proposing tomorrow. I've read that if a man says no he has to buy the girl a gift..........;)
