Legal landmark made in happyslapping case

A girl was charged and convicted of aiding and abetting murder or manslaughter, by recording the attack on a mobile phone.

Report here

Does this set a good precedence or bad?

Instead of using her phone to call for help, she used it to record an atack so that she could send it round as a "joke" afterwards. I think the court decision is the right one.

It would seem that the courts have gotten it right. Aiding and abetting a crime is punishable at law. In this case, she was aiding and abetting manslaughter. I don't know enough of the facts to opine whether the intent was to kill the man.
