Big Brown seeks to win the first triple crown in 30 years, at Belmont

Here is one article

And here is another
(I sometimes have link problems, so I thought I'd pick two.)

The race is around 6:20 p.m. New York time, so I think it is 11:20 p.m. Greenwich time.

Having won two of the three supreme races, most everyone agrees that Big Brown has the best chance. But, you don't know the outcome for sure until you run the race! greengrin

The only horse considered to be likely competition for first place had to drop out.

I understand that, because Big Brown is so favored, a winning bet on him will not win much more than the money you paid for the ticket.

Da' Tarra WON! 38 to 1 odds!

I don't have the names of the 2nd and 3rd horses.

Big Brown did not finish in the top 3.

The jockey said that there was a point where he urged the horse on and "I had no horse." Big Brown did not respond to the urging. The commentators are saying that Big Brown is an intelligent horse and, if anything wasn't quite right, he would hold back. The jockey, realizing that he couldn't win, just eased back and brought the horse safely in (in last place).

Everyone is trying to figure out what might have gone wrong. Did one of the other horses, in close quarters, kick him? Did the vet doctors miss something?

Everyone agrees the jockey did the right thing in protecting the horse and bringing him in gently, without aggravating whatever problem there might be.
