Useful little tool!

Eldest son during his visit mentioned ninite which is a full automated installer for common tools and programs. Just go to the website, click on the items you want (checkboxes) and ninite does the rest, it's made installing many utilities a breeze. It even bypasses the crap that some of the installers want you to install. If a program is already installed and is up to date, it just skips the program, if it is not up to date, but installed, it downloads and installs the latest. On my desktop I have just selected and am in the process of installing/updating Firefox, Sliverlight, Air, Java, Java x64, Shockwave, 7-zip, ImgBurn, Audacity, VLC, K-Lite Codecs, Acroreader, iTunes, QuickTime and AVG. In the time it has taken me to type this, it has finished! The on screen display tells you what it did. well worth a look!!

Hmm... Might have a look, at that, ta!

A lot of installation files are simply SFX archives, which you can dearchive.

Some are weird cab files, which normal dearchivers can't get into. I tend to leave those alone. After all, they must be trying to hide something...

Ruby, that is terrible - are you OK? Is Scholar with you now?
