Hello to everyone, I am back since a few moths ago when I was struggling with a couple desktops. These oldies are still dormant one of these days I
will star all over again trying to revive them.
This time a bring a problem installing Outlook 2002, everything goes all-right up to the point to open the existing folders. I get the following message:
"unable to open e-mail default folders. The .DLL for the information service could not be found. MAPI was unable to find the information service PSTPRX.DLL. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured"
I have installed the program 3 times and I do not know what kind of configuration would be necessary at this point
I am using a HP laptop with WINXP and MS Office 2000.
I would greatly appreciate your recommendations and comments.
You say that you've installed Outlook 3 times with no success. A couple of things spring to mind, one - are you sure that you have enough free space
on your HDD for the data files? two - If you are installing Outlook over the top of the previous load you may, actually, not replacing the dud file.
Try removing Outlook using Add remove Programs, re-starting and then try reinstalling it.
No guarantees, but worth a try. Or, give Outlook the flick and use Opera and its inbuilt mail client or Thunderbird. Both are very good at e-mail but leave some of the other Outlook specific tools out.
Looks like it "might" be a MAPI issue? Are you intending to use a MAPI service (exchange server) or is it meant to use POP3 for email?
This might help with a basic idea, Here on setting up Outlook to use normal internet mail or exchange services.
