Hi al , i will try to keep this short!
i bought a new gfx card for my pc, sapphire 512 ddr3 (AGP).
After installing it i turned on my pc to get this message...ERROR LOADING OPERATING SYSTEM....
So i took out the card and put my old 1 back in now i still get the same message so i boot from HDD but now my DVD ROM is not being recognized ?. Could anyone help me i,m completley lost?.
Every time i boot up now i have to go into boot options by pressing the ESC key and choose HDD. And i cant run windows xp because the dvd ron wont work!!!!.
If i can get the dvd rom to work maybe a reinstall of windows might help?
Thanks for your time max
I have checked all cables and they seem fine i get the green light come on the dvd when i boot up then nothing?.AS an after thought what is the right sequence? HDD . This problem only started when i fitted the new card! no its constant when trying to boot up? every time i have to go into ESC and start windows from there??
You haven't got a floppy in your drive...
I now find i cant play any games i try to run COD 4 and nothing... the error message i get reads...... Iw3mp.exe encountered a problem ,Anyone
know what that means?
thanks again guys for your help.
? what do you mean a floppy drive or a disk in the floppy?
and the answer is yes i have a floppy but no no disk in it!
That's OK, then.
Number of times I see this and it's down to a floppy being in the drive...
Or a non-bootable CD.
Katzy is absolutely correct in the advice max. I'd double check the settings in BIOS, can you report back exactly what BIOS reports as far as drives
are concerned (the first menu option).
Depending on the BIOS, the boot order may be set in another menu. Can you ensure that your boot order is set to HDD first? My preference is usually CD/HDD/FDD but HDD/CD/FDD will also work.
OK guys i think i have sorted it after a few hours of messing about! i pressed reset to default settings in bios and all is ok except my DVD rom is
still not being recognized.
Thanks for your time and help much appreciated
Just a thought........what was your 'old' card...ATI or Nvidia ?
What is your new card...ATI or Nvidia.
I have a feeling that the Saphire card is ATI ?
Did you uninstall your previous gfx drivers before installing your new card ?
Sometimes a new driver install is needed even though the card is from the same type (ATI/Nvidia).always handy to try if the new card produces glitches, and conflcts with existing hardware.
Of course, I could be wildly wrong
I never got chance to install new card drivers (uninstalled all for my old 1)...my pc crashed with operating error so i took it out and put the old 1 back in which also was a ATI!. Ok update i have now unplugged every thing and refitted every thing and my DVD light comes on but its still not working?.Put a disc in the drive it trys to read for about 20 seconds then nothing?
Sounds like the drive's stiffed.
