You may have noticed me mentioning portable programs, over the years. They have many obvious advantages.

If you have to reinstall Windows, they'll still work.

You can put them on a USB stick and they'll work, on any Windows computer (within reason).

Dead easy to backup. Just copy them somewhere else.


Here's a site where you can get loads of these programs.


Edited to add that virus-checkers might flag these up as being malicious.

They're not. :)
