Topic Review

I used Comodo for quite a while. But, their support site seems mostly dead, now, and some of the things it did were irritating.

I also used Avira for a long time. But, I tend to use a lot of "Portable" stuff and Avira HATES those. The big problem that I had, with it, is that "Always Ignore" actually meant "Always ignore until the next reboot". I hounded them for ages about that and they never fixed it.

The thing that I've come to really appreciate, about Avast, is that it just does what you want it to do, without any hassles, whatsoever. You can even configure the amount of time that the "Update installed" popups stay up and that kinda thing.

The only small niggle, that I've had, is that batch files converted into .exe files, using http://www.download3k.com/Install-Bat-To-Exe-Converter.html makes it throw a fit and it simply won't let me use them, whatever I do.

I've installed Comodo on a recommendation from my kids. No mention of that one in the report but it seems ok. Got a couple of false readings the first time I ran it but its settled down now. There is an option to talk to experts which I suppose they will charge for but otherwise its free.

I see both Avast and AVG did well, though but agree with the Kaspersky thing having tried them all - including Norton.
