I don't care what it was about, it should never have happened. It's the militants of this world that give any religion a bad name. As Scholar has said, their studies of their revered scriptures (in this case - the Bible) should well be revised.

I'm sure there were some strong, sincere words to the people involved from the people over them, when it was done.

If the problem is a desire to protect or maximize the honor of doing the cleaning, each would do well to read the passages about seeking honor, contrasted with humility. Jesus' teaching of taking the lowest seat at the banquet table, rather than the most honored one, comes to mind. Paul's example of Christ's humility, humbling Himself even to death on a cross (found in Philippians) comes to mind as well.
