Yes, but now they're automatons with smartphone app layouts and levels of complexity to include playmates with their own game controllers to do battle with whatever side you're on. And of course all in stereo sound--whoops, bugles, etc.,.

I think the most favoured toy of all time has to be the smartphone.

The annual Toy Fair [a trade show] is running from February 17-20, 2018 is well under way. Only adults can attend this trade show.

The show receives extensive media coverage, and a summary of what's on display is an impossibility.

So I suggest that anyone interested simply do a search and pick whatever hit that suits you; there are vids & pixs galore, etc., and be advised that's it's very time consuming to take a peek at the numerous items. And yes there are uTube vids, but many of the vids are produced by individual toy manufacturers, rather than a walk through of all the displays-that would be quite a walk through production.

I have yet to come across a 'top 10' new toy article URL by some journalist, but I'm sure that will happen.

What is ostensibly a child's toy is of course an adult's leisure time/pastime activity.

Which of these toys survive in the marketplace to listed on next Christmas' shopping list remains to be seen.
