If I'm trying to learn it, I will "conduct", to ensure that I am on the beat, but, after that it all depends. Some days, "It has a strong back beat, you can't lose it" sees me conducting, and on other days, the same music will see me listen only.

For me whenever I hear The Pilgrim's chorus from Tannhäuser I can't keep my arms still and need to conduct it.
