"Kathy", I said,
As we boarded a Greyhound in Pittsburgh,
Michigan seems like a dream to me now.

And for his NEXT trick, he'll head northeast and part Lake Michigan.

Oh, my home internet is back.

AT&T DSL, a technology which served many people well during the later 20 th century.

The physical phone line had come down for some reason--weather, birds, squirrels? Their worker came by today and made necessary repairs.

I wasn't home, so I am left to wonder--was it only put back the way it was, and subject to the same problem happening again? Or, was something done to make it more durable?

I suppose I'll know, when it either continues to work, or fails again.

Luke 12:13-21, in which a man asks Jesus to get his brother to divide an estate with him. Jesus declines, and uses the occasion to warn against covetousness, telling the parable of the rich man who thought he was set for life with a vast supply of grain, only to face the end of his life that very night.

I preached about how wealth and possessions can be good, if well-used, but that an attitude which allows them to demand attention and dedication which should be reserved for God makes them a problem. I also pointed out that people of modest income or even poverty can have the same problem, if they focus on possessions instead of the Giver of all we have.

And--we have all the riches of heaven through faith in the Savior, who, though He was rich, became poor for our sakes, so that we could have His riches.:knight)

My home internet is down, and the laptop has been shutting itself off after a few seconds each time, so I am now at the library computer. AT&T is supposed to come over on Monday--here's hoping they do not try to charge a bundle; we pay for the monthly service, they should keep it working up to the point of reaching us.

I have sermon work to do now. I may be scarce here.
