Glad you had a good birthday. Of course, you could try your tea hot. We do it all the time!;)

Sorry, Scholar, I forgot, belated happy birthday to you. I trust that 2016 is going to be even better for you!

My wife had purchased ingredients for making me my favorite birthday cake, but she was too tired to actually bake it.

Today, she bought a cake from the bakery section at the grocery store, of the same type (I like pineapple-upside-down cakes best.)

thankingyou

The Christmas part of the day was better than the birthday part. (I ask any birthday presents to be reserved to the latter part of the day.)

The people who live at my house don't have much to spend, but they did get me some gifts.

One of the gifts, from the Sunbeam small appliance company, is labeled as an iced tea maker. The purchaser thought it would deliver iced tea. (I have been making tea by putting hot water into a pyrex pitcher such as one finds in coffee makers, and adding tea bags, then chilling it to drink cold, later.)

It turns out that the "iced tea maker" doesn't chill the tea at all. You load it with water, which it heats, and then it pumps out the water into a pitcher, still hot.

It is up to the user to provide the pitcher, and to have a tray or two of ice frozen in advance, and for him to dump the ice into the pitcher. And, woe to the man whose pitcher is not the right size and shape for the tea to go into it without splashing onto the counter. If I am to use the iced tea maker, it appears I will have to buy a new pitcher.

But, they meant well.

And they got me several LED lights that are cleverly designed.

(I know its Scholar's Birthday and all that, but its still a Global warming thing)

How's it going? Did Ruby do a non-Christmas cake with non-Christmas candles for you?

Theresa's brother's birthday is next Thursday - New Year's Eve. Must remember to send him birthday greetings, too.

;-)
