Having looked at the maps again, it seems I missed the good doctor's point by a country mile!

I don't suppose any of the weather girls on tv that night referred to expecting 8" from the "beast from the east"? ;-)

So, the "beast from the east" changed his mind and will give way to the "pest from the west" - rain, wind and milder temperatures from the end of the week.

Just like our "barbecue" summer, then. The Met Office really is becoming a drama queen, and a laughing stock, to boot.
