That is a very good explanation (though, I confess, I didn't check the arithmetic to see how closely the numbers compare to present taxes--sometimes such figures come up once and then get used over and over again even though there have been some reforms that make the numbers out-of-date). Beating up the rich man seems a little over-the-top to make the point.
