A muse till death

Incredibly touching

Quote:

When Norman Gilbert's wife of 65 years suffered a stroke, the artist sat at her bedside in hospital for a week and did what he does best - he sketched.
The 91-year-old has always included his family in his work and his wife Pat had featured in his paintings since they met at Glasgow School of Art in the 1940s.

Not the most flattering of poses, though.

I think though that if he has used her from the moment they met, it shows the journey of the relationship. It also says something to me as it reminds me of the final moments of those who I sat with at the end. The fact he is using this with doctors to help explain the body's last stage is worthwhile. I have just completed the advisor's section of applications to university for those who are beginning their next stages of life at university. The future doctors, vets, lawyers etc. are with me for a few more months. I can't imagine them "getting" death quite yet.
