It stopped its own beat, that is--CPR was administered very quickly after he was discovered on the floor, purple!shocked_yellow

Perhaps the most amazing part of the rescue is that there appears to be no brain damage.


I was a little surprised that, in a North Carolina paper, there is no mention of faith. The Carolinas are both generally considered to be in the Bible Belt, I think. Was there no mention among the people? Or did it just not make the news account.


I see a lesson or two in the life-saving efforts. . .kewl_glasses

This is not unusual. I've had CPR training including how to use a defib machine as we have one at work. If you get there quickly and are healthy enough to keep going to the "Staying Alive" beat, you can save a life. This added to the reduction of temperature was what saved him. Broken ribs is normally the price someone pays for being resuscitated.



I'll need to bow out of the next refresher because I know my wrists wouldn't take it any more. I could do the breaths if someone else pumped though.

I didn't realize recovery from purple, with so long a period of compressions and breathing assistance, was not unusual.
