Advice on development tools

In the past I have developed an app to maintain my stamp collection using MSAccess which worked quite well once I managed to get around the 2Gb limit on their databases. I am looking at developing a more cross platform solution and have played with open office Base, which is not up to the task. After playing around with the likes of Lazarus and and FreePascal linking to a MYSQL backend. I'm thinking that this may be far too complex for what I want. I'm thinking that something along the lines of a BB might achieve my desired result, sort of like ebay where users can add and remove pictures and descriptions of their items etc. What would be the recommendation for something along those lines? How is the data stored. Heck, even KF code is probably able to fulfill my needs.

I created my record index using simple HTML. Works with any OS. :)

That was my thinking, did you store your collection in a table and reference that?
