Keepod - essentials of a personal computer, including OS, on a USB thumb drive

Here.

Plug the USB drive into any computer, and it provides the OS and your own desktop and programs. You borrow the display, keyboard, etc. while you use it, but you keep everything that is yours on the USB drive.

Sounds like an idea with great potential--but, as the article says, there would be a great temptation to sell them, and they would be easily stolen.

All my USB thumb drives have been stolen by people visiting my house.:(

Sounds like you must needs be a little more circumspect with the people who visit, Scholar. Theft may be the least of your worries.
