Mr. Buchanan was never the Republican presidential candidate. He sought the nomination, but did not win it, and he graciously supported the party's nominee that year. (Buchanan did run one time as the Reform Party candidate.)

In the 1992 primary elections, Buchanan garnered three million total votes. - sounds like a candidate to me.

(However the point remains, his experience is entirely right wing American and as such he doesn't have much to contribute to a discussion about a one-off incident on - to him - foreign shores. He is afterall the man who allegedly demonizes Jews and aligns himself to white supremacists.)

When you run in the primary, you are not running for president--you are running for the party's nomination. Only people on the presidential election ballot are candidates for president.

He has studied, written about, and spoken of matters of domestic and foreign interest dating all the way back to the Nixon administration.

The statements about him demonizing Jews and aligning himself with white supremacists are false. His vice-presidential candidate was an African-American!
