"Hell Week" at the White House

President Obama's White House, long protected by most media outlets, is finally feeling the heat from 3 scandals, all at the same time.

1--The Internal Revenue Service (the national tax enforcement) has been discriminating against and harassing conservative 401 groups (e.g. groups eligible for tax-exempt status) while rubber-stamping quick approval for their liberal counterparts. They have held up tax-exempt approval for YEARS for some of the conservative groups, while so-called progressive groups got approval in weeks. In addition, private information from tax forms was provided to individuals who had no right to the information. AND, though this was known in advance of the Presidential election, the head of the IRS denied such things were happening.

President Obama and various prominent Democrats have rightly spoken against such practices. Tax enforcement is supposed to treat people fairly, without distinguishing between people based on their political leanings.

2--Documentation has come to light which shows that the early, truthful information about the attack on the American embassy in Libya was covered up, in advance of Rice repeatedly promoting the false story that it was a spontaneous reaction to an anti-Muslim video. The early version of the CIA talking points document included the knowledge that the terrorist attack was from an al-Qaeda-related group. There has been testimony that the highest levels of the State Department wanted information edited out of the document and got their way. (The only two people above the person who said she was directed to get the information was suppressed were Hillary Clinton and the Assistant Secretary of State.)

The only reason to keep the American public in the dark was that some voters might have a less favorable opinion of the President and his team, who did not take sufficient security measures, even though greater security had been requested earlier.

3--A blanket wiretap had been issued on phone lines used by the Associated Press, in an attempt to find the leak which resulted in the disclosure of a double agent intelligence source in Lebanon. The press and some lawmakers are upset that the Obama Justice Department would do this.

If the wiretaps are ONLY used for their intended purpose, I actually agree with President Obama on this one. In my opinion, the press ought not endanger the lives of intelligence agents, or hurt our intelligence operations by giving possible helpers the expectation that they would be revealed by a press agency.

The Associated Press organization says it has had an immediate, chilling effect on their sources, who are worried that Obama's Justice Department is listening.

President Obama carried the election with fewer votes than he got for his first term. The more people see what Obama does (which falls so very far short of what he promises), the less people like his performance in office. Would he have won, if voters had known what has been covered up about the Benghazi attack and the IRS scandal?

Meanwhile, the American Economy BURNS because the Republicans in Congress won't do anything about passing any of the economic bills the President has submitted.

For someone who supposedly has "knowledge of the ages" you can REALLY be as thick as a brick most of the time, Eorl.

The President's policies have hurt the economy and delayed the economic recovery.

Many politicians think, "We've got to do something!"

No, that is wrong. When there is a choice between doing something harmful, or not doing harm, it is better not to do the harm.

The House of Representatives HAS done something good for the economy--they have voted to repeal Obamacare, which has driven up health care costs and insurance costs, and harmed the economy by making businesses afraid to hire more workers, because of the additional costs associated with Obamacare. Part of the problem has to do with the massive government interference involved--since so many government bureaucrats and regulators are involved, no one knows exactly how bad it will be.
