God, the heart of the matter

Do you think that (s)he really wants the fanatical follower?

Is your internal model of heaven that all beings will forever glorify God's name, and little else?

If there is a god, it has an extremely sick sense of humour. ;)

He wants a dedicated follower. A fanatic, I doubt it. Jesus was pretty practical in his methods. The people were hungry, so he "preached a good sermon", nope! He told his disciples to feed them! Then he preached a good sermon. I don't think any of us can really conceive what paradise will be. I'd be prepared to go so far as to suggest, though, that it will be different for each one of us.

I do know this, though, that the Catholics had it right when they declared a place of preparation called Purgatory. They blew it when the decided that it no longer exists. If anyone ever wants to experience purgatory, try painting colonial windows. I rest my case! :(
