Here's a wacky one for you

I've just been given an old PC that was surplus to requirements. Not necessarily in working order, though I was able to boot from my external HDD so it sort of worked. Anyway, didn't like the case (no front access) so pulled everything out and re-fitted it to an old case that i had lying around. Coolermaster PSU, ASUS A8S-X MOBO with Athlon 3200 CPU, 3Gb RAM (tested OK using memtest), and a Sparkle GeForce 6800GS video card. Nothing else connected so far but when I power up, with or without RAM fitted, I now don't even get BIOS and the CPU fan is revving like it's getting ready for a drag, must be a power issue as ll other lights on the 'puter dim in synch, including the mouse. If I press and hold the reset button, power stabilises but still get no BIOS.

Any ideas? As I said at the beginning, was working ok until I swapped cases.

I've considered that, but hoping to find a solution if I can, am about to pull it all apart and see if I missed something when I did the screws up on the mobo,
