Recovery of system w/out recovery disks
I've just had to restore a lappy without having access to the recovery cd's that were supposed to be made by the owner when the system was new. They
supposedly were made but the system will not allow me to re-create them. The recovery partition is still existant but would not let me address it
Linux to the rescue! I installed a copy of Linux side by side with the existing OS and re-booted. When GRUB loaded there were two Windoze Hissta
bootable partitions, guess what! Exactly what I needed! Yep the recovery partition was now accessible and bootable. I'm currently letting it perform
its magic, so I should end up with an "out of the box" lappy at the end of this.
Thort this may be of some use to others who have to re-load systems without the appropriate cds.
