I think uniform is a good idea, although have to admit I hated mine !
1. It should give the pupils a sense of pride and belonging.
2. It gives a level playing field regarding dress - no designer frocks deriding those from charity shops.

My mum used to by my school uniform from the Army and Navy stores, one year I went to school dressed as a Japanese Admiral
