It's chick season
Several chicks hatched today - unfortunately mother hen for this lot died last night so this lot are under a lamp in the utility room. Was thinking
of stuffing them under another broody hen but when we lifted her we heard chirps and so the eggs she has been hoarding are starting to hatch too

It is a great time - normally these are kept warm by Mum however we have had to place these under a lamp and in the house - the noise tonight is going
to be interesting.
What is a shame is that many of them turn out to be cockerels and we have three of those already and find it difficult to re-home them
I love silkies (presumably yours is one of the little white ones with a comical hair style) but unfortunately for our silkie the boys do not leave her
alone so she skulks around avoiding the hassle.
