Surprise! Obamacare raises insurance costs, forces people to lose their health insurance.

Here.

When the Democrat leaders in the House and Senate rushed to get the health care overhaul bill passed, it was written in secret and then rushed through as qucikly as possible, without enough time for the legislators to read and study it.

Now, they realize that while they have won with respect to forcing the insurance companies to take people who are already sick or injured, they neglected to put in anything to prevent sky-high insurance premium increases to cover the costs. Obama liked to falsely say that the bill would lower health care costs--that was a lie, and the increases in premiums as a result of the bill will be obvious to anyone buying insurance.

Previously, those who had a pre-existing condition might find they would be charged at a higher rate (because of the expectation of the need for pay-outs). If everyone is going to be charged the same rate, and the insurance companies need to take in enough money to cover the medical costs, they have to increase premiums charged to everyone.

Of course, this also means that people who formerly could barely afford to buy health insurance will not be able to pay the new, higher premiums. They will no longer have health insurance.

So, Obama claimed to bring down the costs, but instead made them go up; he claimed more people would be covered by health insurance, but he is forcing some people to lose theirs.
:(:(:(

Those who wrongly refuse to believe facts if they are presented from conservative sources might note this comes from the liberal LA Times.

No real surprise there, the insurance companies are there to make money.

Perhaps the Red Cross will be able to give assistance, as they do in other deprived countries?

No, Giron--the increases are necessary to bring in enough money to pay out the greater medical benefits (not to make money for the insurance companies).

In the U.S., some insurance companies are non-profit companies; they exist for the sake of the people they cover, and no profits are made, no dividends are paid to any stockholders.

Some health insurance companies do make some profit. The industry average is just 5%--less than many other businesses. However, they help hold down health care costs and fight fraud better than U.S. government health care generally does.
