Today.

TODAY

Today I am sad.
Someone that I thought was a friend
turned their back when others attacked
with lies and harsh words.

Today I am hurt,
that someone who has been a guest
in my home could close the door
on our friendship and walk away.

Today I am confused.
What did I say that others have not?
Am I not allowed to defend myself
when others deliberately wound?

Today I have learned
that our friends, like our words,
should be chosen more wisely,
and to curb the eagerness to trust.

I hope that you are not speaking from a recent experience, Nim, we are still your friends, I trust. Sad poem.

Sad but true, Nim. Its always worse when those you trust let you down.
