Flower Photo Gallery

This thread is so everyone has a place to post their flower photos to and discuss them. It's also a good place for exchanging ideas on how to make your flower photos better.

This is not meant as a competition, just a gallery. If, for some reason, the photo salon thread has flowers for a theme, it would just be a coincidence for the period of the contest.

Have at it, everyone. You know I will.

As part of our wanderings on Memorial Day we went to Grandfather Dam on the Wisconsin River to see what the rapids looked like. (We were about a month too late for PEAK water flow).

When we were walking up the trail back to the parking area we spotted bunches of these white flowers and I, being the photographic admirer of flowers that I am, snapped a few pictures. Sometimes you get surprised by things in the woods, even in an area you've been to repeatedly for over four years.

This is the best of the take (crop is for an 11x14 print).

[EDIT] For those interested, it's a Trillium (for the three petals). Thanks Dori for enlightening me on the type. It is NOT the endangered Snow Trillium, which only grows in four counties in the southern part of the state.
