Avast and the product key

I have been using the free Avast which was suggested here at KF.

I started to get warnings that it was about to run out, Then, I got notice that the free version could be continued with a free registration, so I registered.

The blue Avast ball has disappeared. The instructions in the e-mail I got from Avast say to click on the blue ball (which is gone) and copy the license key in the e-mail into the appropriate place.

What do I do now?:(confused2

Funny, I've never once had to click the Avast taskbar icon to enter my S/N...??? I've always had to do it via the shortcut that gets placed on the desktop, or in the start menu...

But a re-install doesn't doesn't a bad idea if the icon has gone from systray anyway... Are you sure you haven't just got XP hiding what it thinks are inactive icons...?

(Right click on empty part of Taskbar > Properties > Untick "Hide inactive icons")
