web pages slow to load



my friend has a xp pc and just recently the web pages load very very slowly..the pc itself runs fairly fast, booting, rebooting and running other programes ...games paint programes all run fine..but when she connects to the net the pages take ages to load like wiating for dial up...she is on broad band and running at 2.5 mgs checked a couple of sites both say arround this.... scanned pc for virus, spyware, adware ect but all clean, been defragged temp files, cookies all cleaned and no new progs have been insatlled..any ideas fellas? thanks confused2

You seemed to have checked most things. Just one point, could the problem be her ISP? I wouldn't rely on their standard "service status" page, but a look in on their forums might reveal others with the same problem.

What happens if Opera, or Firefox is used, instead of IE...?
