Bible use



A wonderful quote from a show I've just been watching,

"The bible is like a person - if you torture it enough, you can get it to say anything".

A second quote was also interesting - "It must still mean something to us, or we'd not still be using it". (A nearly classic way of expressing functionalism, when you get right down to it).

What do you think?

It's many things to many people. The jury is still out about whether or not it is a literal truth.

I still like the quotation from the rabbi - when asked if the story of Adam and Eve were literally true.

"Oh, heavens, no! It's MUCH more important than that!". :)

I don't think the jury is out - it's just that there's more than one jury and they don't all agree. :}
