I made the mistake of installing the new free AVG

Now I find it's not working, & I have been unable to uninstall , I first went the icon at the bottom of the screen, clicked , & it says " Failed Dialog With ID AVG , not found in setup ", so I am unable to even open it up, then to Start, Programs, clicked uninstall, won't work, then I went to control panel, add/remove, won't remove, & went to my C drive to remove the folder full of AVG stuff, it won't delete it , anyone ever have this happen ?confused2

This may seem a stupid question but have you turned off AVG while you try to uninstall?
I have found that if a programme is using shared files you cant do anything unless it's turned off whilst trying to correct a problem.

Either way if it isn't working it won't hurt to turn it off while you try it.

Added to that, if you're stuck, even then, try cleaning your registry with something like RegSeeker.

If you try to install AVG and it notices you already have it, it should ask if you want to uninstall it.

Just in case...

Do you have another antivirus running? You should only have one, otherwise they interfere with each-other.

Also, if you have something like Spybot's "Teatimer" running, it might prevent AVG from installing and/or uninstalling.
