Revamped $100 PC

The wraps have been taken off the new version of the XO laptop designed for schoolchildren in developing countries.

The revamped machine created by the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project looks like an e-book and has had its price slashed to $75 per device.

It says the price is slashed to $75 each in the article, but it does not precisely state the conditions. Is that when they are purchased in groups of 1,000? Is it when they are bought in the Give-one-get-one program? (which would mean you pay $150).

I very much depend on the feel of the keyboard for my touch-typing. The raised bumps on F and J locate home row for me. I would absolutely have to look down all the time to aim my fingers if my keyboard were a touch screen.

I wonder if wireless transmission is the only way to get files into the machine. And, how does one save them to media? Is there no media drive, and no USB port for a thumb drive? For advanced nations, it may be too limited, except as an extra computer in a home with another wifi computer.
