Mesh - good idea?

Microsoft says it's going to offer us seamless synch of all our devices - through MESH

This is the first I've heard of it (which merely shows I know very, very little about this kind of thing), but... doesn't a lot of that already exist?

I can synch my phone, PDA, MP3 player, etc., with contact data, media files and other information... I'm assuming Mesh must be a better or different or more extensive way of doing that...? (Or have I missed the point of it entirely - quite possible?).

Is it a good idea? Bad...?

It's awesome...

You can watch the tour Microsoft's site.

It looks interesting - but does it do anything really new?

Looking at that site, yes, it's all good, but there's really little there that I can't already do, with a combination of current software and something like google groups? (And I'm certainly *not* the most technical of people - if I can do it, almost anyone can!).
