Suicide

A friend of a friend killed himself on Friday.

I would argue for anyone contemplating suicide to refrain from doing it. It is usually devastating to the people left behind. No one reading this is likely to find themselves facing worse things than others have endured. Hang in there. If you feel horrible, it is likely there is some way you can be helped to feel better. Suicide prevents any improvement. If you feel strongly inclined to do it, decide to put it off. If you can't bear the thought of living with some distress for years and years, at least don't end it for the next six months, or three months, or two months--give yourself time to improve your situation. At the end of the "delay date," look at any improvements, and realize that another few months can mean more improvements.

Don't give up.
