My friend Clarence died Sunday

He and I had fallen out of touch. He'd been living in a retirement home, a couple hours' drive away. I think he was 90 years old.

He very much was looking forward to his heavenly home. On his last day or two, he had great pain in connection with gall stones, and was still fighting pneumonia. He was not well enough to have surgery.

He said, "I'm going home today," by which he meant his heavenly home. And, later that day, he did The doctors think the immediate cause was a blood clot. They had enough warning that they were able to call his son to be with him at the end.

He had been a member of my church for decades, but had transferred out when he moved away. He wanted to have his service with our people, his old friends, and he has a burial plot in the church cemetary. I'll be attending his funeral on Wednesday.

I always liked his sense of humor, and his enthusiasm for the Lord and the church.:)
